Gas Powered RC Cars-The Fuel Ones

RC cars or radio controlled cars(whatever you want to call them) are fast gaining in popularity throughout the world. Traditionally they used to be looked upon as mere toys meant for kids. But nowadays these cars have become more than just mere toys with many enthusiastic people getting involved. Nowadays you will find gas rc cars which are also known as petrol rc cars, which have top speeds of up to 50 mph and which are almost two to three meters in length with powerful fuel engines. Does this sound like child’s play to you?

Gas RC car racing has succeeded in developing a massive fan following throughout the years and nowadays an remote control car is one of the most requested and sough after present for any occasion. Gone are the days when these cars were just meant for kids and now young and old alike are taking up rc cars as a hobby.

Recently these cars have started coming in three broad. Namely you have your traditional electric remote control car (battery powered), your nitro powered car and last but not least your gas powered car(petrol). Different people prefer different cars according to their own needs.

The electric powered car is the most commonly found type in stores and supermarkets today. This is because of its cheap price and low running costs. These rc cars run on batteries which are charged using electricity. The problem with these cars is that they are not usually of high quality and the also they have low run time. Run time means that once charged they only run for one or at most two hours and then they have to be recharged for almost six hours. Therefore this type of remote control car is usually preferred by kids or those people who are newcomers to rc cars as they are relative cheap to buy(costing around $100) and easily available.

Then there is the nitro powered rc car. This car is preferred by many enthusiasts mainly due to its high top speed ability (known to reach speeds of 75 mph) and also as it provides them with a more realistic drive. But the main problem with the nitro power model is that the fuel that is required is very expensive and difficult to locate. Nitro powered cars run on a mixture of oil, methanol and nitro methane. This fuel is very hard to find and costs around $50 to 60 per gallon. A gallon of this fuel usually ensures around three to four hours of driving. That in turn makes it a very expensive drive and most people cannot bear the financial costs associated with buying such a car. Even though these cars are relatively cheap to buy costing around $200 to $400 but the fuel cost of these cars makes it out of the reach for many people out there.

Next we come to my personal favorite the gas powered car. The gas powered car comprises of either a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine. This type of remote control car is fast becoming the rc car or choice for most serious enthusiasts and for new comers as well. This is due to its relatively large size which ranges from about one to two meters and also because of its ability to be accessorized.

The reason why I prefer this car above the others is because not only does it provide you with a good top speed (around 60 to 70mph) but also because it is a lot less lighter on the pocket then nitro powered cars while providing you with almost the same performance. This type of rc car is utilizes normal gasoline which is a lot less cheaper then nitro laced fuel. Also as it is bigger in size it can be easily accessorized with different designs, colors and logos therefore making it a favorite among young males in particular. This ability of gas powered cars makes it the favorite choice of most young males and they consider this type of car to be the ultimate boy toy.

The gas powered car is available in two different varieties. The on track type and the off track type. The on track type is faster on smooth surfaces such as remote control race tracks and pavement but when confronted with rough terrain these rc cars are easily damaged and cannot offer the same performance as they do on smoother surfaces.
The off track type on the other hand has the ability to run on different terrain such as bumpy roads, rocky playing fields and potholed roads without getting damaged. These cars are also a lot more fun as they can be tested with obstacles and jumps.

Although these gas RC cars can be expensive to buy costing around $800 , in my opinion in the long run they are a much better option than others(nitro) because they are cheaper to run. The fuel does not cost that much and also they can be easily accessorized hence personalized also provide the best value in terms of the smooth drive and low maintenance costs.
